Butyrate

Often called the gut's superfuel - butyrate is a short-chain fatty acid produced when gut bacteria ferment dietary fibre. It is the primary energy source for colon-lining cells, helps seal the gut barrier, reduces inflammation, and may help prevent colon cancer. Low butyrate is linked to IBS, IBD, and leaky gut. The best way to boost it is feeding your gut bacteria the right prebiotic fibres.
