Yeast (gut fungi / mycobiome)

Fungi including Candida and Saccharomyces are a normal part of the healthy microbiome collectively called the mycobiome. Like bacteria they exist in balance: Saccharomyces boulardii actively prevents antibiotic-associated diarrhea and Candida overgrowth. When bacterial populations are depleted through antibiotics or dysbiosis fungal populations can expand rapidly causing digestive symptoms, vaginal thrush, fatigue, and brain fog.
