Lactose intolerance

Lactose intolerance is the inability to fully digest lactose - the sugar found in dairy products - due to insufficient production of the enzyme lactase. It causes bloating, gas, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea after consuming dairy. Globally approximately 65% of adults have reduced lactase activity after childhood. Studies show that specific Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains can reduce lactose intolerance symptoms even without increasing lactase production.
